Fox art swap 2016

My part for Love-Of-Foxes's art swap, featuring foxstory's fursona!
It was a nice coincidente to be sorted with you, I remember you said that such chance was small but not impossible. well, here it is!

There isn't a long story behind this picture, I just drew this scenerio that came to mind, in which your sona explores the area near an unrecognized lake. There isn't anyone in sight and the air is peculiarly silent, it's almost midday so the sun is close to its full height, casting shadows on the floor and on the fox's tail. The story that unfolds is up to you~

I tried to be more painterly here, the entire floor was painted manually, the only texture used was the one from the custom brush used. I picked light tones ranging from brown to gray to simulate a ground with rocks beneath it.
The trees were fun but tricky to do. I'm experimenting different techniques with leaf brushes, since painted leaves proved to be too much work (I tried). The far mountains were my favorite part, I used purple-ish tones to illustrate distance and pink just on one side to simulate the places where the sun hits directly. I'm not very found of the water, but I think it's where I can improve on my next pictures.

For the character shading I picked soft brushes and used the blur tool on some parts, I used a smaller brush for the lineart too and tried not to overdo in the lighting. Overall, I like the outcome of this picture.
